HAWORTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Home of the Lions

Haworth Schools is a quality pre-K through twelfth grade school system nestled in a setting of beautiful trees and grassy, open fields. Our supportive community and dedicated staff continue to make major physical and technological improvements to our buildings and classrooms, which proves our dedication to give students what they deserve. Experienced teachers and community pride are the perfect combination to provide the nurturing educational experience we offer with our small school family. We feel the more you know about our schools, the more impressed you will be.

We invite you to take a look now, and then keep

Parents and Student Care Takers,

As we continue to follow state department guidelines for education at this time, this coming Monday, April 6 will begin the academic activities for our Haworth students. On Monday, online work will be available for students who are using this method while paper packets and additional online work will be available on Monday, April 13th.

We are hopeful that the majority of our students are able to work through online assignments; however, those who cannot will receive paper packets on Monday, April 13th to begin their work. As we discover who is not able to use the online opportunity we will put together a plan of action for the paper packets to be delivered. We will explain later how this will take place.

Currently, our principals and teaching staff have been doing a great job preparing for this transaction and we will continue to work through details. This is a situation far beyond normal school, but as we work together we will work through it. Teachers will continue to communicate as well as possible and our administrators are available for questions. If we know the answer, we will tell you and if we don’t, we will find out and do all we can to contact you.

Once again, continue to be safe and remember we will get through this one step at a time.

Go Lions!

Superintendent, Jason Price

Parents, Students and Community,

The State Board of Education met March 25th in Oklahoma City and determined that all schools will be out for the remainder of this school year. This also includes all extra-curricular activities.

Currently, our meal program will continue in to the first weeks of May. A specific cut off date will be provided at a later time. Even though school is out, there will be distance learning required for us to participate. This will begin Monday, April 6th.

Our staff will begin the process of putting this area together. We will provide you further details of how this will work as quickly as possible. Once again, we don’t have all of the answers but as soon as we learn more we will inform you. It is one step at a time.

Continue to be safe and work together. We will provide further information concerning upcoming academic requirements and other areas as the overall plan is organized.

Video and Video Conferencing
Two Important Notes about using video with your students:
1 - It's important for your students to see YOU. We all know that one of the most important factors in teaching/learning is that of RELATIONSHIPS - and your students need that connection even more when we're dealing with distance education.
2 - If making a video lesson, commit yourself to doing it in ONE TAKE - and just deal with noises, people interrupting, & mistakes as you would if you were teaching live. This is important for 3 reasons: it allows you to stay "in the flow" of your lesson, it allows you to limit the time you spend making the video, and (most importantly!) it allows you to LET GO OF THE CONCEPT OF "PERFECT"!

Video and Video Conferencing Resources
  • Screencastify Chrome Extension allows you to record from webcam or screen, or both
  • Screencast-o-matic.com - free online screen recorder
  • Zoom - video conference program
  • Zoom Tutorial - from Howfinity on YouTube
  • Google Meet - video conference app, already enabled for teachers (go to the Google App "waffle" or to meet.google.com).
  • Do you need a document camera for your video conference lesson? Combine your desktop computer with cell phone!
